CSSA Materials Tool User Agreement

The Materials Tool requires that stewards be aware of three things:

  1. The Materials Tool does not determine whether your packaging and paper products are designated in each of the programs. It is the steward’s responsibility to make this determination.
  2. CSSA endorses the application of the Component Threshold Rule that allows smaller packaging components to be reported under the main component if the smaller packaging item remains attached to the larger component packaging at the time of disposal.
  3. In the case of a discrepancy between Materials Tool reporting results and the application of materials information in the Guidebook for Stewards, CSSA, on behalf of the programs, will have the final interpretation on any corrections/adjustments.
